According to Broderick Turner of the Los Angeles Times, Chris Paul is set to consider the Clippers, Spurs, Rockets and Nuggets in free agency this summer. Wait, what? Did someone say the Nuggets? Like the Denver Nuggets? Are we sure?
Yep, apparently that’s true. I don’t understand why, but I guess this happens quite a bit. Players will meet with a few teams that make perfect sense and then one that makes zero sense and leaves everyone scratching their heads. For CP3, you gotta think he wants to win a ring before his career is over. It’ll be tough to do with the Warriors being what they are, but his best shot is probably to head to a place like San Antonio or Houston so that he can form another super team with an organization that is already contending.
The Nuggets are a nice team, don’t get me wrong. They’ve got a young and promising core led by Nikola Jokic, but they just aren’t the spot for an ageing Chris Paul. They just missed the playoff this year and while CP3 would fit in nicely with them basketball-wise, they aren’t ready to contend. That is, unless Paul is texting with like two other superstars who for some reason want to head to Denver.
So sorry Nuggets fans, but don’t get too excited by this visit from CP3. You stand no shot and it’s better if you just know that now.
