Preview for UFC Fight Night – Singapore

These fights tomorrow morning in the tiny nation of Singapore will be crucial for the careers of those on the main card. Many of those on the main card are coming off of multiple fight losing streaks and some may possibly call it a career with a loss. The main card begins at 8 AM eastern time while the prelims start at 4:45. Yikes. These fights will also only be available through the UFC’s forced subscription service UFC Fight Pass.

Welterweight (170): Rafael Dos Anjos (25-9) (-240) Vs. Tarec Saffiedine (16-6) (+205)

The Belgian born Saffiedine is coming into this fight with redemption on his mind as he has lost two fights in a row to Dong Hyun Kim and Rick Story. But Saffiedine has his work cut out for him as he drew a fierce competitor in former UFC lightweight champion Rafael Dos Anjos. Dos Anjos has also dropped his last two fights, losing his belt to Eddie Alvarez and more recently losing in a close war of a brawl to Tony Ferguson. Now as a Welterweight, Dos Anjos will feel much better as he enters the octagon due to the decreased weight cut and I feel he will show up ready to rumble. Saffiedine’s well rounded game will cause problems for RDA, but ultimately I forsee Rafael taking this fight by Unanimous Decision.

Welterweight (170): Colby Covington (11-1) (-305) Vs. Dong Hyun Kim (22-3-1 1NC) (+255)

Covington is coming in to this fight on a three fight win streak after defeating Jonathan Meunier, Max Griffin and Bryan Barberena and prior to this matchup he was looking to be the one who would welcome RDA to the welterweight division, Instead of fighting the former champion, he will battle Dong Hyun Kim. “Stun Gun”is coming off of a split decision victory to Tarec Saffiedine at UFC 207 after a year long layoff and while he has not been as active as Covington has recently, he is still a murderer (Look up Kim vs. Hathaway). With all this being said, Covington being a -305 favorite is just ridiculous to me, he hasn’t beaten anyone of notoriety in his career and who knows how he will fare in his first big step up in competition. I think Stun Gun Kim will win by TKO in round two.

Heavyweight (265): Marcin Tybura (15-2) (-235) Vs. Andrei Arlovski (25-14) (+200)

Marcin Tybura has won two in a row by brutal Finishes of Luis Henrique and Viktor Pesta. Meanwhile the legendary former heavyweight champion Arlovski has lost his last four fights all by finishes. I desperately want to see him win quickly and retire but I know that is not the way these things happen. Most likely Andrei is gonna get clipped and go down. Andrei’s Chin is glass now and if he is smart he will retire after this fight win or lose. Tybura is younger and hungrier than Arlovski and I believe that this fight ends with a with a quick first round knockout for Tybura.

Bantamweight (135): Holly Holm (10-3) (-550) Vs. Bethe Correia (10-2-1) (+420)

Both of these women have seen better days coming into their main event tilt. Hell, the only reason Holly got this main event spot is because she shocked the world during that shocking night in Melbourne where she dispatched the previously unbeaten Ronda Rousey. Ever since then she has fought three times and lost three times (Even though GDR fought her dirty at UFC 208). Bethe Correia is coming off of a draw against Marion Reneau where we saw her winning the first two rounds before going into the third and getting absolutely demolished. Correia has had two close battles prior to that tilt and she didn’t look too great in either. I tend to think that this fight will go all five rounds in a rather unentertaining way with Holm eventually taking a unanimous decision victory to find her back in the win column.

So in conclusion, I believe…

Holly Holm Def. Bethe Correia via Unanimous Decision

Marcin Tybura Def. Andrei Arlovski via KO round 1

Dong Hyun Kim Def. Colby Covington via TKO round 2

Rafael Dos Anjos Def. Tarec Saffiedine via Unanimous Decision

Other Predictions:

Jon Tuck Def. Takanori Gomi via TKO round 1

Walt Harris Def. Cyril Asker via Unanimous Decision

Alex Caceres Def. Ronaldo Dy via Submission round 2

Justin Scoggins Def. Ulka Sasaki via Unanimous Decision

Li Jingliang Def. Frank Camacho via KO round 1

Russell Doane Def. Kwan Ho Kwak via Split Decision

There’s two more fights before these ones but I’m gonna be honest I have no idea who any of the competitors are.

PS-Fight Pass sucks.
