In a little over a month, NBA teams will report for training camp and almost a month after he requested a trade, Kyrie Irving will still be a member of the Cleveland Cavaliers. His drama with the team and feud with teammate Lebron James has almost reached Kobe Bryant vs Shaquille O’Neal levels of drama. I feel if there was a desire for the Cavaliers to make that trade it would have been done by now, with plenty of teams with packages capable of getting Irving out of Cleveland.

The Phoenix Suns are willing to part with Devin Booker, the Minnesota Timberwolves want to team Irving with Jimmy Butler, and Karl Anthony Towns so they would give up Andrew Wiggins to get him. The Boston Celtics have two lottery picks to offer for him in next years loaded NBA Draft, and two young stars in Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum. The list goes on and on…

So I think it feels that the Cavaliers have no intentions of trading Irving, it feels without a doubt that Lebron James is earmarked for Los Angeles after this season. So the Cavs know this is in all likely hood their last chance to trip up the Golden State Warriors. So the smart play is to tell Irving to suck it up and deal with playing for The King for one more year, then they deal Irving next season when James leaves for the Lakers or Clippers. Which is the smart play I might offer, so well done Cleveland.

Kyrie Irving isn’t going anywhere.
