Here we go again the Boston Bruins vs young skilled player act V. HERE WE GO AGAIN!! A young skilled player drafted by the Boston Bruins wanted to get paid and the Boston Bruins are playing hardball. Where have we seen this before? David Pastrnak heading down Joe Thornton, Phil Kessell, Tyler Seguin and Dougie Hamilton Way.
Pastrnak is coming off a 34 goal season, granted there are down sides to his game, his puck management and skating ability are questionable at best, but the kid is one of the best young players in the NHL. Pasta’s not Conor McDavid that’s for sure. In comparison, the Edmonton Oilers just signed Leon Draisaitl to an 8-year, $68 million extension and Draisaitl and Pastrnak are similar players. Meanwhile, the Bruins have offered a 6-year, $36 million deal to their young winger.
Don Sweeney and Cam Neely need to just meet in the middle and offer 7-years at $49 million, file the paperwork and get it done. The four prior cases the Bruins shipped the players out and got nothing in return in each case.
Find a middle ground get the deal done. Get the kid on the ice before things get ugly and personal. It’s that easy.
