Breaking: Chiefs Trade Alex Smith to Redskins

The NFL offseason is underway before Super Bowl LII even kicks off. The Kansas City Chiefs have decided to move on from Alex Smith and transition into the Patrick Mahones era as they traded Smith to the Washington R-Words.

Normally, I would criticize the Chiefs and say you have zero idea what you have in Mahomes but I think the ceiling was only so high with Smith so it makes sense. Mahomes just strikes me as a guy with a cannon of an arm but I’m not sure he can actually be a good QB in this league.

For the R-words, Smith clearly represents the end of the Kirk Cousins era which is pretty silly. Cousins wasn’t a superstar but I’ll take him over Smith so this move makes little sense. Now we’ll see Kirky end up with some team like the Jets or something and Washington will stay in mediocrity.
