UFC Fight Night Belem – Can the Former Crimson Tide Player Strike Down the Dragon

The UFC octagon makes it’s first visit to Belem, Brazil when Former Alabama Crimson Tide Football player Eryk Anders takes on a Brazilian Legend in Lyoto Machida. Also on the card, we have the Flyweight debut of former bantamweight contender Valentina Shevchenko.

Michel Prazeres (-137) Vs. Desmond Green (+117) – Mortal Lock

Prazeres missed weight for this fight by 5 pounds, but I still consider him to be able to wipe the floor with Green. In two fights in the UFC, Green is 1-1 with his win coming by a somewhat lucky split decision. Prazeres has won his last five fights and finished his last two.  I see him doing the same thing to green early in the fight. Prazeres will need to move up in weight after this fight, he has missed 155 pounds in 3 of his last 4 fights and cannot keep missing weight. Michel Prazeres Def. Desmond Green

Valentina Shevchenko (-900) Vs. Priscila Cachoeira (UNL)

Holy Fuck, look at those odds. Valentina Shevchenko (-900) Def. Priscila Cachoeira (UNL)

Eryk Anders (-280) Vs. Lyoto Machida (+240)

This fight is actually a tough one to predict. On one hand, we have a young upstart middleweight in former Alabama pass rusher Eryk Anders. Fresh off two great UFC wins over Rafael Natal and Markuz Perez, Anders is undefeated as a professional. On the other hand, we have a legend of the sport who is appearing to lose traction in the Middleweight division based on a drug test failure and a loss at the hands of Derek Brunson. I do not put too much weight into the Brunson loss for Machida however, because prior to his Jacare loss, Brunson was looking like a world-beater. I believe that if Machida plays this fight smart and takes it to the ground he can take out the upstart in Eryk Anders. I’m taking Machida, I’m not as confident as I usually am in the Main Event, but I feel like I would be less confident picking Anders. (Especially after reviewing Machida’s Crane Kick KO of Randy Couture) Lyoto Machida Def. Eryk Anders
