Today is the day we’ve been waiting for. After an offseason of back and forth about who the team to beat in the American League East is, we’ll finally get to settle it on the field. It’s the first matchup between two juggernauts, the Boston Red Sox and the New York Yankees (okay fine, it’s spring training. whatever.)
For some odd reason, the Yankees aren’t bringing their big dogs on the trip to face off with their rivals. Yep, the lineup is out and neither Mike Stanton nor Aaron Judge will be taking hacks. What could possibly be the reasoning here?
Are they scared of the Red Sox? Does it have to do with the fact that they are intimidated and worried about getting embarrassed by the Sox arms? Maybe. It’s hard for me to say, but I’ll go ahead and say the answer is absolutely they are frightened.
It’s really too bad, because all we want as baseball fans is two teams going at it and the “leaders” stepping up to the moment. It looks like this Yankees team is going to leave something to be desired, and I hope they work out their issues so we can at least have some hard fought, respectable battles this season.
*Judge and Stanton are probably too busy hanging with their new bud Russell Wilson. It’d be a real shame if they tossed around the ‘ol pigskin. A REAL shame.
