Every time LeBron James opens his mouth, I can’t believe what I’m hearing. It’s like he’s always trying to say the most ridiculously tone-deaf statement of all time. I don’t know why I get surprised anymore because this is just who he is. It just seems like a joke though.
The other night after getting blown out by the Miami Heat and D-Wade (the 7th seed in the East), LeBron decided to tell everyone that he should be the MVP of the league this year. I don’t know why he chose this time to do so, considering he didn’t play well and his team lost yet another game and slipped farther in the standings, but he did.
“I would vote for me. The body of work, how I’m doing it, what’s been happening with our team all year long, how we’ve got so many injuries and things of that nature, guys in and out, to be able to still keep this thing afloat, I would definitely vote for me,” LeBron said in the longest, run-on brag I’ve ever heard.
I mean, you can’t make this shit up. LeBron really went out and gloated about how he’s played and basically spat on his teammates saying that he’s done this thing all alone. He also showed that he cares about the MVP award, which I don’t have a problem with, but it’s not something you say out loud and at this moment in time.
He went on…
“I’ve said it. Obviously I’ve had some unbelievable seasons before but I’ve said it: This is the best I can go, just from a complete basketball player standpoint.”
DUDE, SHUT UP. STOP TALKING. You sound ridiculous! What kind of clown needs to go out and make sure everyone knows how good he is? I hate to be that guy but Tom Brady literally never would say this and only cares about winning over personal accolades. If you want to blame this quote on the media asking him, you really can’t. It’s easy for LeBron to just come with something about how he doesn’t care about the award. He should have just said he’s focused on winning basketball games and lamented the loss to the Heat and how he played. Or he could have talked about how this is a team sport and he’s gotten contributions all year from everyone.
Sorry, that’s just not how LeBron’s head works. All he knows is being a self-absorbed prick. He wants to give himself all the credit for where his team is at and it’s just a wild, wild way to act. I really hope all of his teammates secretly hate him. I know I would.
*The funniest thing about this is that LeBron is clearly not the MVP. Anthony Davis has the friggin’ Pelicans in a similar situation record-wise and is putting up better numbers across the board. Of course, LeBron doesn’t know have any clue about that because he’s too busy watching his own highlights.
