Colin Moran went 1-for-9 in the Pirate’s opening series before hitting this grand slam.

That grand slam wasn’t good news for my fantasy team. After having my pitchers post a 0.74 ERA over the weekend, Colin Moran blew that up by hitting a grand slam off of Lance Lynn.
Moran, who was one of the players traded to the Pirates in the Gerrit Cole trade, launched his first home run of the season off of Lynn in the first inning of today’s game. Talk about a positive boost in confidence for this kid. He’s only 25 years old and yes going 1-for-9 in the opening series isn’t anything to worry about, but if you were traded for Cole, who was a top of the rotation pitcher a few years ago, fans are expecting you to perform.
This grand slam should no doubt get the fans behind Moran. This Pirates team is revamped and are off to a good start. For the fans, let’s hope they can continue this as the season gets deeper. Because a few years ago when the Pirates were in the playoff race and in the postseason, that city was rocking.
For Lance Lynn, it’s only his first start of the season but seeing someone walk six batters in his first start isn’t a stat you really want to see. Even if he did sign a little late with the team in camp, six walks is just ugly. Walks are never good obviously. Hopefully for the Twins and my fantasy team, he can fix that a little bit and keep the walks down.
