Rafael Devers played a huge part in the win vs. the Yankees last night. Devers got the scoring started with a grand slam off of Sonny Gray and then had a double and three more singles in the game.
Devers is now the youngest player ever with a 5-hit game as a visitor to the Yankee Stadia. (Stuffy McInnis’ 5-hit masterpiece vs the Highlanders as a 20-year-old in 1911 came at Hilltop Park.)

He now has 14 home runs on the season along with 46 RBI’s. I don’t understand why there have been suggestions that the Red Sox should trade him. He’s only 21 years old. I feel like we are so use to seeing him play third that we forget that. Yeah the errors are a bit of a problem but that’s normal for someone his age.
Same thing for the bat. He was struggling but now has turned it on recent since the trip to Seattle. Devers is going to be a great corner stone for the Red Sox for years to come. We just have to get through the learning experience that he has to go through in order to become a better player then he is now.
By the way, going into the rubber series with David Price on the mound?
C’mon kid I’m ready for tonight.
David Price is good.
