Bronx Bombers power their way to a series win over Boston

In the third Rivalry meeting of the season, the Yankees, for the second time this year, took home a series win over the Red Sox. The teams are now tied atop of the AL East, while the Yankees have played four less games and own a better winning percentage.

New York took game one of the series behind a dominate outing by veteran lefty CC Sabathia, who gave up just one run in 7 innings. The Yankees offense was lead by first basemen Greg Bird who hit two home runs. Miguel Andujar and Aaron Judge also added home runs against Boston pitching. The Yankees won the game 8-1.

Game two went to Boston. What did you expect? Sonny Gray absolutely stinks and Chris Sale is the best pitcher I have ever seen. Sale threw 7 innings of 1 hit ball, striking out 11 Yankees. Boston’s offense was lead by Rafael Devers who went 5-5 in Boston’s lone win of the series.

Going to say it: Thank God David Price didn’t want to shave his beard. It would’ve been better for Boston if he had gone an faked another injury again to avoid the Yankees. David Price got absolutely shelled again in the Bronx, giving up two first inning home runs to Aaron Judge and then Rookie Sensation Gleyber Torres. Also against Price, Aaron Hicks added a two run home run and a solo shot and Rookie Catcher Kyle Higashioka added a solo shot that landed on the moon. Aaron Hicks went on to hit another homer in in the 8th for his third of the night. That’s 5 home runs against Price, and six total for the Yankees, as price gave up EIGHT runs in just 3 and a third innings. Bottom line is, David Price was completely right for being terrified of the Yankees. He can’t handle Boston pressure, imagine he was in the New York market? Yikes. On the other side of the ball, Luis Severino continued to show why he is in the lead for the American League Cy Young. He threw 6 2/3 scoreless innings with 6 strikeouts as he held the Boston lineup down. Severino was absolutely brilliant again as he pushed his season ERA to 1.98, which is the best in the American League. The Yankees went on to win the game 11-1.

The Yankees are the best team in baseball, and Boston is a close second, but for this weekend at least, the Yankees really had the upper hand in what will be an exciting summer race for the AL East Crown.
