Over the weekend, Dallas Stars General Manager Jim Nill announced that the team has signed C Tyler Seguin to an eight-year contract extension. The new extension is worth $78.8 M and has an average annual value (AAV) of $9,850,000.
Last year Seguin had career highs in Goals (40) and PP goals (14). After signing Captain Jamie Benn to an extension, the Stars extended his line mate Tyler Seguin with a deal that will keep the two together until the 2024-25 season.
This is great news to Stars fans, who have come to admire Seguin and his abilities as a top scoring center in the NHL since they acquired him in a trade with the Boston Bruins.
“I’m trilled to have this signed going into the season,” said Seguin. “Dallas has become home to me and I love this organization. In my time over the last five years with Tom Gaglardi and Jim Nill, it is clear how bad they want to win and have a model franchise. To be a part of that leadership group for the next nine seasons is an honor, and I can wait to get this season started with my teammates.”
Seguin sits right behind Captain Jamie Benn as the most beloved Dallas Star, and seeing him in victory green for another eight years will be a delight to Stars fans around the lone star state.
