In what many people have pegged as the potential Eastern Conference Finals matchup, the Toronto Raptors thanks to a late run sparked by Kyle Lowry, prevailed over the Boston Celtics 113-101. One of the biggest questions entering this NBA season is will Kawhi Leonard return to his Finals MVP, Franchise carrier form?
Well, two games into his first year in Toronto he has answered those questions and then some as he poured in 31 points along with 10 rebounds and was fantastic on the defensive end of the floor, Lowry had 15 points himself most in that 4th quarter run. The highlight of the night being when Leonard and Danny Green who was traded to Toronto along with him, teamed up on a double block of Celtics young star Jayson Tatum in the 4th quarter.
The good news on the night for the Celtics was that both Kyrie Irving and Gordon Hayward appeared to be much more up to speed then they were on opening night vs Philadelphia. Irving had 21 points, 6 assists, and 4 rebounds, Hayward added 14 points, 2 assists, and 7 rebounds. The bad news was it was a wretched night on the defensive end for the guys in green as every Celtics starter except Jaylen Brown was a minus on the night and Brown’s was only due to him sitting out most of the 4th quarter. The Celtics get right back at it Saturday Night in New York as they face the Knicks in primetime.
