The Boston Celtics shot poorly on Monday Night in Boston and it doomed them as they fell 93-90 to the Orlando Magic to fall to 2-2 on the season.
The Celtics as a team went 9-40 from three-point land and 3 of those makes came from Gordon Hayward. The rest of the starting five Kyrie Irving, Jaylen Brown, Jayson Tatum, and Al Horford went a combined 4-24 from behind the arch. Despite his struggles from three, Irving did turn in a good performance with 22 points, 8 rebounds, and 5 assists, 17 of those points coming in the second half. The two young stars Tatum and Brown scored a combined 12 points. The bench also went 2-11 from three one from each of Marcus Smart and Terry Rozier. Coach Brad Stevens final play was confusing, a corner three from Irving off the inbound that was rushed and double covered.
The Magic enjoyed a career night from sophomore Jonathan Issac, who turned in 18 points and 12 rebounds. They also enjoyed a double-double from big man Nikola Vucevic who turned in 24 points and 12 rebounds. They also got 13 points from Aaron Gordon and 14 Evan Fournier.
The Celtics will get back at Thursday night in Oklahoma City vs Russell Westbrook, Paul George, and the Thunder.
