Justin Gaethje is fighting, So turn your TV’s on.

If I’ve said it once, I’ve said it a thousand times. IF JUSTIN GAETHJE IS FIGHTING, YOU NEED TO WATCH. Seriously this guy is so goddamn entertaining and he’s fighting a guy who also is very entertaining in Edson Barboza. If the UFC wants to attract fans, this is the perfect main event to do so with. The under card is also pretty stacked with a few good prospects to keep an eye on in Kevin Holland, Alex Perez, and Sodiq Yusuff.

Featherweight: Josh Emmett (-115) Vs. Michael Johnson (-115)

This looks like a pretty easy bet to make for me. Michael Johnson is incredibly overrated and he hasn’t looked all to fantastic at Featherweight, going 2-1 with close Decision victories over Andre Fili and Artem Lobov. Josh Emmett meanwhile took his time to heal up after his vicious knockout defeat at the hands of Jeremy Stephens. Before that fight however, he showed the MMA world his worth by Starching Ricardo Lamas. I think the odds are in Josh Emmett’s favor, especially because he’s shown he has power after the weight cut and because he took his time to recover from his defeat. Josh Emmett Def. Michael Johnson

Middleweight: David Branch (+105) Vs. Jack Hermansson (-135)

David Branch is looking to come back from a devastating defeat at the hands of Jared Cannonier at UFC 230. Before that however, the former 2 division WSOF Champion knocked out the man who will be fighting for a Light-Heavyweight title in July in Thiago Santos. Jack Hermansson has won his last two fights, which included a miraculous come from behind victory over Thales Leites and a first round submission victory over Gerald Meerschaert. Honestly, I feel as if recency bias has a great effect on the odds for this bout as I would expect Branch to be the one who is favored. Branch’s level of competition over the last 5 years dwarf’s Hermansson’s and I believe that he gets a Decision Victory on Saturday. David Branch Def. Jack Hermansson.

Lightweight: Edson Barboza (-140) Vs. Justin Gaethje (+110)

I haven’t been more excited for a fight this year. Justin Gaethje always brings the excitement and this Edson Barboza matchup just screams “Fight of the Night”. Gaethje and Barboza are each 1-2 in their last three, but are both coming off of stoppage victories over James Vick and Dan Hooker, respectively. If you’re a Hardcore fan like myself, you know this fight is going to be leg kick city as both of these fighters utilize leg kicks regularly and both have finished fights because of the repeated damage to the leg. I believe that Justin Gaethje will take the victory on Friday. Gaethje hasn’t taken any real damage in about a year while Edson was in a long and tiring fight in December and has also recently changed training camps. If nothing else, I can see this fight going similarly to Barboza’s Kevin Lee, fight where it was competitive up until the later rounds when Kevin’s pressure just got to Edson. Justin Gaethje will need to make sure he actually shoots for a Take Down if he gets spin kicked and wobbled (See Lee Vs. Barboza and Poirier Vs. Gaethje) but if he does I don’t see Barboza getting any momentum after. Justin Gaethje Def. Edson Barboza
