Brock Lesnar decides to hang up the Gloves, Stipe gets Shot at Title:
The Former Heavyweight Champion of the UFC has decided to hang up the gloves, UFC President Dana White tells ESPN’s Brett Okamoto.
Brock has not fought in the UFC since UFC 200 where he defeated Mark Hunt by Unanimous Decision before it was changed to a no-contest as a result of Brock’s Failed Drug Test. There was much speculation about a potential matchup between Lesnar and Current Heavyweight Champion Daniel Cormier, but the Retirement puts an end to those ideas. It is now rumored that Daniel Cormier will rematch Former Champion Stipe Miocic, whom he defeated back at UFC 226.
Lesnar is currently a free agent after competing last for WWE at WrestleMania and dropping the Universal Championship. There were strong indications of his return to the Octagon which are now squashed with this retirement news. That leaves WWE left to compete with new wrestling promotion of All Elite Wrestling for his services.
UFC octagon will return to Abu Dhabi:
Abu Dhabi gets itself UFC Events for the next Five Years starting this September. Partnership’s with Middle Eastern businesses are likely the reason that the UFC makes it’s return to UAE. It’s also a way to get back into the Middle Eastern MMA Scene where the Promotion Brave CF has been making some noise.
It is believed that Khabib Nurmagomedov will return from his suspension and fight in the Main Event against Dustin Poirier. Poirier responded to the news in a Nurmagomedov like fashion.
Greg Hardy made nearly Double the Money of Main Event Winner Jack Hermansson this Weekend:
As a man who is very against Domestic Violence and people who commit Domestic Violence, I hate this with a passion. Greg Hardy made about $150,000 in disclosed earnings on Saturday Night while Jack Hermansson, who stepped in on short notice and defeated the #2 Welterweight in the world in “Jacare” Souza made $84,000. This just is another example of how names are more important than skill and I find it disgusting that Hardy didn’t start with 12/12 like all other UFC debut fighters (12k to Show, Additional 12K to win).
Rory’s Post Fight Statement from Bellator 220:
Rory MacDonald, after retaining his belt in a split draw against Jon Fitch, had made a rather interesting post fight speech questioning his future in the sport. Once he saw that his comments could be misinterpreted as retirement talk he took to twitter to clarify his situation.
Thats all I’ve got for right now, I hope to be doing more of these updates every week and I’m gonna try to have them out every Tuesday Moving forward.
