Rio de Janeiro plays host to UFC 237 this weekend as “Thug” Rose Namajunas defends her belt against Brazilian powerhouse Jessica Andrade. Also on the card are a bunch of Brazilian Vets and Legends as well as some up and coming Brazilian prospects.

Featherweight: Jose Aldo (-145) Vs. Alexander Volkanovski (+115)

Alexander Volkanovski has been on an Unprecedented run. At 19-1, his only loss came early in his career and he’s beaten tough customers in Shane Young, Jeremy Kennedy, Darren Elkins and Chad Mendes over the last year and a half. His well rounded game has led to him being able to take advantage of his opponent’s disadvantages. Unfortunately, Jose Aldo has no major disadvantages and has shown he is still a top performer at Featherweight. Since losing his Featherweight Belt to Max Holloway and losing the immediate rematch, he has defeated contenders Jeremy Stephens and Renato Moicano by stoppage. I believe Jose Aldo will win in a convincing fashion. Jose Aldo Def. Alexander Volkanovski

Middleweight: Jared Cannonier (-145) Vs. Anderson Silva (+115)

Surprisingly, Anderson Silva is still very much in the picture as a player in the Middleweight division. At UFC 234, Anderson Silva made a competitive fight out of what really shouldn’t have been when he faced current interim Middleweight Champion Israel Adesanya. Jared Cannonier burst on to the Middleweight Scene last November when he came in on short notice and pulled off a stoppage victory over David Branch. While Cannonier’s victory was impressive, it was also his only marquee victory in the promotion. The former Light Heavyweight was defeated easily by Glover Teixeira, Jan Blachowicz and Dominick Reyes. Now, naturally he is a Middleweight and that should help him on Saturday. I just have a feeling that this one will be the Brazilian Bias screwjob that the judges will bring because Anderson Silva is Anderson Silva. Anderson Silva Def. Jared Cannonier

Women’s Strawweight Championship: Jessica Andrade (-140) Vs. Rose Namajunas (+110)

It’s always dangerous for betters when Champions are coming into their fight as the Underdog. In the last few years, Underdog champs Daniel Cormier, Max Holloway and Tyron Woodley fought Anthony Johnson, Brian Ortega and Darren Till, Respectively and they all won in convincing fashion. I believe the same happens on Saturday. No big long write up, just a history lesson and my reasoning as to why I believe “Thug” Rose Namajunas wins on Saturday. Rose Namajunas Def. Jessica Andrade
